Navigating Change Together: An Update from Degrees of Change

To our wonderful community,

We have some hard news to share. Like many small nonprofits in these uncertain times, Degrees of Change is navigating serious financial challenges which have required us to make hard choices about our budget and staffing.

Where We Are Now

Due to substantial shifts in the funding landscape this year, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to restructure and reduce our staff by half.

We’re making this adjustment to stabilize Degrees of Change and ensure our programs can continue. Our mission to support students from college to career remains at the heart of our work, and we are committed to the nearly 800 students we currently serve.

We deeply regret that these changes affect valued staff members and are providing support to help them through this transition. While we must make hard choices now, we are focused on sustaining our mission and serving our community.

Community Is Key

Loving community support is the reason Degrees of Change has been able to support thousands of historically underserved students over the last two decades. We ask you to stay with us because our work wouldn’t be possible without you.

Here are some impactful ways you can continue supporting Degrees of Change and the students we serve:

  • Become an employer partner: We continue to welcome employer partners for our 2026 Seed Internships cohort. Our hundreds of applicants represent some of the best talent in the Puget Sound region. To learn how you can host a Seed intern, contact us.
  • Give a supportive gift: Whether it’s a one-time or monthly gift, your generosity is a statement that you believe in our young people and in changing their futures for stronger communities.
  • Subscribe and follow: To get updates as we move forward and learn more about our students, alumni, and programs, sign up for our eNews and follow us InstagramLinkedIn or Facebook.

Moving Forward Together

We are deeply grateful for this community. The support we have received over the years—from funders, partners, employers, alumni, advocates, and so many others—has enabled Degrees of Change to serve thousands of students across the region and the nation.

While this moment brings difficult change, your continued engagement and belief in our mission matters more than ever. We appreciate your partnership and willingness to lean in with us as we move forward.
