Degrees of Change Board Chair and Act Six Graduate, Michelle Bess Highlighted in Crain’s Chicago Business

As tech companies struggle to explore new recruiting avenues with a goal of expanding the search for minority talent, innovators in the field of DEI and tech were highlighted in Crain’s Chicago Business. Michelle Bess is one of those innovators and was interviewed as the Vice President of Talent and DEI at online lender OppFi.

She spoke on how her team at OppFi began bridging the gap of women in technical roles. The article states, “The company exceeded its goal in less than a year by seeking out candidates through organizations such as the Mom Project, Women in Technology and Lesbians Who Tech”. Bess continued that, “We want to make sure the process is equitable, that we’re not screening people out too soon”.
