Business Development Work Study Intern

Status: Part-time (8-12 hours/week), Hybrid
Reports to: Business Development Director
Location: Tacoma, WA

POSITION SUMMARY

An effective communicator and attentive to detail, the Business Development Intern will collaborate with the Business Development Director at Degrees of Change to promote the Seed Internship program in Tacoma, Washington through its recruitment and selection seasons.

Though business development, this role is more relational, and community based than it is sales. This position is crucial in meeting revenue objectives, however, the right fit for this role will advocate on behalf of our program participants and lead with equity and inclusion in mind.

The Business Development Intern will gain valuable experience in youth leadership and career training programming. They will deepen their organizational skills and understanding of how non-profit organizations operate.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain CRM with business contacts while conducting outreach
  • Develop strategies for recruitment of businesses including building relationships
  • Attend hiring events, coalition meetings, and others as needed
  • Provide support to the Seed Internships team on ad hoc program-related projects as assigned.
  • Develop creative strategies to share the impact of the Seed Internships program
  • Support the Seed Internships team with student recruitment as necessary
  • Provide the highest quality customer service and delivery of accurate and excellent information

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Degrees of Change.
  • Pursuing a college degree.
  • Deep commitment to educational, racial and economic equity.
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
